The classic Waffle Sole technology has been seen on the feet of skateboarders all across the globe since The Van Doren company opened their first retail shop in 1966. With a heavy appearance in the film Fast Times At Ridgemont High, Vans gained superlative popularity within the world of skateboarding, surfing, art, music and pop culture in the early 80’s.

In 2012 Vans released their Pro Skate range, using stronger materials and the honourable Ultra Cush/Waffle Cup sole technology.
