Evisen Skateboards was founded in Tokyo in 2011 by skateboarder, filmer and director Katsumi Minami. The brand grew out of Minami's work documenting Japan's skate scene, following his 2009 video project NIGHT PROWLER, which brought together skaters from across the country. What began as a team built around filming and a shared approach to skateboarding developed into Evisen, with Tokyo at its centre and strong connections to scenes in Osaka, Sendai and beyond.

Evisen has always placed Japanese culture at the centre of its identity, combining traditional Japanese imagery and references with distinctive artwork and skate graphics. That approach extends beyond the decks into apparel and other products, giving Evisen a visual identity that is unmistakably its own.

Video remains an important part of the brand's history. The 2017 EVISEN VIDEO was the result of around five years of filming across Japan, Korea, Taiwan and New York, bringing together the team's creative approach to spot selection, tricks and filming. Evisen has continued to build an international audience while maintaining its connection to Japanese skateboarding and the culture that shaped the brand.
