When Keenan passed, Chocolate set aside all inventory bearing his name - sadness all around. Among these were several dozen board boxes from the City Series 2, labeled Milton. For over 16 years, they remained untouched, until they recognised they deserved a better home. They belonged among those who cherished Keenan’s spirit - those who shared laughter and admiration alongside him.

In 2017, Chocolate began distributing these decks, each accompanied by a personal note, to Keenan’s friends. As we reached the 40th deck, a surprising discovery was made - a Richard Mulder deck had been sent out, signalling a mix-up. Upon inspection, they found that beneath the initial 40 Keenan decks lay 200 Richard Mulder decks from the same series. Astonished, we held onto these treasures for another seven years.

Now, as we celebrate 30 years of Chocolate, the moment feels right to share these vintage Richard Mulder decks with the world. This release features new old stock, only 200 available, each screen printed with art by Evan Hecox!

Founded in 1994 by Girl Skateboards founders Rick Howard and Mike Carroll, Chocolate Skateboards was created as a second brand within the same world that had established Girl the year before. Keenan Milton, Richard Mulder and Gabriel Rodriguez formed part of the original team, while artist Evan Hecox became central to Chocolate's identity through his distinctive approach to graphics and board art.

Chocolate developed its own visual language and team identity through the 1990s, culminating in The Chocolate Tour in 1999. The full-length video featured progressive skating from the Chocolate team and introduced Stevie Williams, whose part became one of the defining moments in the brand's early history. Hecox's artwork and the brand's distinctive series of graphics have remained closely connected to Chocolate ever since.

Now more than 30 years old, Chocolate continues to operate alongside Girl through Crailtap, with its identity rooted in distinctive board graphics, team-driven skateboarding and the creative direction established in its early years.
