Founded in November 1991 by Eli Bonerz and Adam Silverman, two architectural school graduates, XLARGE opened its doors on Vermont Avenue in Los Angeles with a concept that was radical for the time: blue-collar workwear and street culture inside a fashion boutique. With early creative and financial input from Mike D of the Beastie Boys, and an iconic Original Gorilla logo that quickly became synonymous with LA street culture, XLARGE helped define what streetwear was before the term even existed.

A year after opening, XLARGE arrived in Tokyo, beginning a chapter that would shape the brand as much as its LA roots. Over the decades that followed, Japan became an integral part of the XLARGE story, with the brand bringing together the attitude and cultural energy of Los Angeles with the craftsmanship and creative direction shaped through its Japanese presence. More than three decades on, XLARGE continues to produce graphic tees, hoodies, shirts, pants and accessories that carry the same DIY spirit and workwear roots that built the brand from day one.
