Founded in Santa Cruz, California in 1973 by Richard Novak, Doug Haut and Jay Shuirman, Santa Cruz Skateboards is one of the longest-running brands in skateboarding. Originally operating under NHS Inc. and drawing on materials from the surf industry, the brand quickly grew into a major part of skateboarding's development through its distinctive graphics, board shapes and approach to design.

Santa Cruz has remained closely connected to skateboarding through decades of changing trends, from the early days of pool and vert skating through to modern street skating. Its iconic graphics and enduring board designs have become a defining part of skateboarding culture.

Today, Santa Cruz continues to produce skateboard decks, wheels and accessories while maintaining the distinctive style and heritage that has defined the brand since 1973.
