Color Bars was founded in 2018 by married couple Andy Netkin and Betta Netkin as a way of bringing some of their favourite moments and icons from popular culture into skateboarding and apparel. Andy brought years of experience from skateboarding and as a co-founder of Primitive Skateboarding, while the pair developed Color Bars around a simple idea: take imagery and references people already connect with and turn them into collectible pieces.
The brand's output spans skateboard decks, T-shirts, hoodies and accessories, with officially licensed collaborations covering music, film, art and other parts of popular culture. Past projects have featured David Bowie, Amy Winehouse, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Playboy and other recognisable names, while the brand's current work continues to draw on the connection between skateboarding, music and visual culture.
